Well I definitely can't come up with a theory, but after seeing the picture quality on the Mastro Matty and your Mattern
I want one. The clarity is far superior on the proofs and look fantastic. wow

Could it be that the proofs were all the first cards printed with each plate, so they would naturally have the best clarity and as the plate was used over and over they clarity would naturally wear down along with the plate?

That was the first thing that jumped out to me, the clarity on the card is unbelievable. Let's see more T206 proofs.

Mastro Matty proof sold for 14k before juice. In the range I expected, but certainly not a bad deal by any means. It really is a spectacular card.

i'd think 14k is a deal for a hardcore t206 collector when they're willing to shell out 30k for a beater cobb/cobb. sweet card.

Thanks guys. I won the T206 Matty no name proof last night and was pretty happy with the final price. Now all I have to do is figure out how to pay for it.
