Cards with Back Damage
Collecting on a retired man's budget. I have found that a good way to save some coin is buying cards with nice looking fronts that have some sort of back damage. Here's some that I have picked up lately that were very reasonable compared to the same card with no back damage. These all have Paperloss on the back.
What are your opinions on these type of cards and please show some of your Low grade nice lookers.

Re: Cards with Back Damage
back damage does not really bother me (especially on blank backed cards), unless it's something that's just very distracting like non-baseball related writing or paper glued to the back.

Re: Cards with Back Damage
Some of the best bargains I've had were on cards with nice fronts and back damage.
Here's one example:

The first T206 I purchased was Tris Speaker, which had been removed from an album and had some back damage. It was a shame because it was an American Beauty back. I don't mind back damage either as it makes collecting expensive cards on a budget much easier.

Re: Cards with Back Damage
A lot depends on what was ont he back in the first place. If the card is blank back like Old Judges, then I can care less is there is paper loss on the back, so long as the front image is intact. On the other hand, if the card has a lot of text like T205 and T227, then it would bother me if the paper loss affected the text. With checklist backs like caramel cards, it really depends how much paper loss.

Re: Cards with Back Damage
Backs don't matter unless to me, unless I'm buying the card for the back, like a Red Hindu or something. Then a clean back is much more important. If the back is rare enough, I don't care too much about the front. This artwork on my T208 Fireside saved me a lot of cash...

Re: Cards with Back Damage
this wasn't cheap, then again, if it didn't have back damage it would have gone a whole lot more

Glen,
That Fireside is awesome. I like the embelishments from past card owners if they are from a time where condition just wasn't important at all.
Here is a card I love, very nice front.
It is completely skinned on the reverse.
Here is another with a stunning front (save the spot of paperloss on the front). I have wanted this card for a while and finally saw a nice looking one for a very low price due to the damage.
Thanks,
AndyH

Re: Cards with Back Damage
This E94 Lobert of mine is PSA 4 because of a tiny area of paper loss on the back. Front is pretty nice though huh?

I feel exactly the same way.
