Goals for 2014
I know we are a few weeks into the year but let's hear what you have collecting goals this year.
For me, since the Gang of 10 now numbers five, I need to add a few cards if possible. Preferably I'd like to add another one or two Minneapolis Tribune supplements.

Re: Goals for 2014
Last year I made a pretty nice "find" of an uncatalogued G&B. This year I hope to do something similar, although I'm not counting on it. Love the obscure 19th century stuff.
Still have a Bender collection to chip away at, as well as E107 HOFers (as of now I have Waddell, Joss, and Bender).

Re: Goals for 2014
My main goal is not Baseball card related but non-sport. My goal for this year is to complete the Master set of the 1933 Goudey Indian Gum cards. I am down to just 2 cards.
This is an obsession as my dad, who is still alive at 92, collected this set heavy as a kid and popped a bunche out of packs back then. He told me most of the kids in Hagerstown MD would trade their baseball Goudey cards to get Indians.
The Indian cards were more popular.

Jay...I've got 3 of them...I believe there are 17...not that I expect to ever get all of them!!! I was actually looking through an old stack of old cardboard/VCBC magazines last night and I came across an issue that featured the n154 set...good stuff!

Re: Goals for 2014
Dan, cool goal and set. I attempted it myself at the turn of the century before I got back into baseball. I completed the n2, e49 and e50 sets and was a few cards away from the n36 set. Started working on the Goudey Indians, then got sucked back into baseball and sold it all except for a few pieces. Still have a Pepsin Gum pin of Sitting Bull and a Gonong Chocolates Red Cloud.

You have my disease Jay! Took me forever to complete my 1933 Sea Raiders Master set! There is hope for me, I am working on the 1934-36 batter Up set currently and no, not doing all of the colors

Re: Goals for 2014
Dan, did you ever do a master set of '41 Goudeys?
I did contemplate doing master BU set at one time. Would be fun if I had the money.

Re: Goals for 2014
That would take more than money, you can complete a T206 set in a few days if you have money. A Master set of BU requires a lot of luck finding scarce cards.
I remember an article some Bozo published about completing a T206 set in a few months and I am thinking, BFD!
If you have the money, they are all available, I have been working on my 1933 Uncle Jacks set for 40 years, complete that in a few months and I will be impressed!

My thoughts exactly. That's why I never got enamored with set. Too easy and too pedestrian for my tastes. The only t206 collection that would impress me would be if someone was crazy enough to chase a master set. And by master set, I mean front/back combo.
One set that never gets any love that I've considered chasing as a master set would be 1936 Goudey set. I wouldn't even have a clue as to jut how big that might be.
Re: Goals for 2014
1936 Goudey? The small balck and white set? That doesn't have any variations does it? Can the backs be found with different game pieces or something?

Yes, the same player can have different backs. Not sure how many different there or if every back is possible for every player. Would be interesting to research.
Re: Goals for 2014
That is very cool? I never knew that! Not sure I am glad I know it now

Goals for 2014:
1) Lose twenty pounds in either weight, or football cards.
2) Learn how to make cheese. Don't think #1 & #2 are compatible, but we'll see.
3) Get my local history collection properly framed.
4) Finish a guilty pleasure, a 1967 Topps Terror Tales set. Only need 13 cards. Can anyone help?

Re: Goals for 2014
The 1967 Terror Tales set has 88 cards from classic B-horror/sci-fi films with odd bubble commentaries. The backs have ***** cue haunting theremin ***** Mysteries of the Almost Para-Normal stories on the backs. Same size as a normal topps baseball card issue.
