March 2008 Pickups

Picked this up in the Mile High auction. Jay, get some T206 Uzits and Red Hindus and I will trade you this Jackson for your collection!

Nice Joey Jax. That card has sold 4 times now in less than a year. Since I collect the set I noticed it. Does this same kind of thing happen alot to high ticket items in the other sets?

Todd, I think it happens with a fair number of cards with a profit not being made on every sale.

Nice M101-2 Tigers picture, do you think you could get a team photo of a modern team in suits and ties like that?

My first pick-up for my personal collection in a loooooong time (I'm glad Don Loucios (sp?) wasn't bidding on this one, he has been on the past few high grade ones). Now if I can find a Colgan's chip....anyone? Also the highest graded card I have owned.

My computer went #%*&$*$$$%^& with 19 seconds left in that auction--I was going to bid $264--so I saved you some money, or it did. Please keep me in mind if you want to move that card, which, oh yeah, is nice.

I picked up a decent looking Hugh "Kid" Smith 1912 Zeenut in a trade. It will fit in nicely with his 1911 zeenut and 1912 Home Run Kisses cards. Here's all 3 together:

Nice pickup on the M131. Seems like you are starting to accumulate some very tough type cards!

Thanks guys on the M131 comments. It will bolster my trade bait arsenal down the line to pick up a small lot of types at some point. And Quan, as everyone else has said....I figured you'd come out on top of that Kelly as well. I thought it went for a great price too. Picked up one more last night that I was happy with.

Holy cow Steve! Traded for them? Can I ask which arm you had to give up? What great great looking cabs. I like the little hint of formality on these with the "Pitcher of the XXX" language - goes well with the overall very dignified appearance of the cards. I never noticed the two different logo styles at the bottom, and am cracking up a bit at the claim to be the "paper that made baseball popular" (while at the same time kind of idly wondering if it may have some truth to it - media effect and all.)

Quan - nice looking BW too. One of the better looking, I'd say.

Ver happy with this pickup, not known on the Super Set until it showed up on ebay. Beautiful front, tape damage on back, makes for a cheap nice looking card.
