Re: March 2008 Pickups
Great card. Even though it shows the back of the player, I really like that pose. You a great sense of what might have been going on in the game at the time the picture was taken. I don't think I've ever seen the original picture. That would be something to see.

Totally unexpected purchase at the Reading card show yesterday but I decided to pull the trigger since I have the Chase (ex. Julie Vognar) and recently acquired Joes Baker.
I guess I am officially going for the set now.

Re: March 2008 Pickups
I think I only get three images or links? I had more in the past month or so, but these are three of the best.

(Note that Maud Nelson was founder of the Western Bloomers and played from the 1890's up to maybe the 1920's, and is widely regarded as the driving force behind organized women's baseball at that time.)

Thx Jay. Ben has explained that I'm not necessarily limited to three images. I thought I saw osmething in the instructions that said three links or urls or something like that. So I'll def post a few more when I get a sec.

Re: March 2008 Pickups
Moving forward with a low grade T206 set. Not terribly exciting but I just love collecting this set......this is only a few of my recent pickups.....a couple tougher commons.

Re: March 2008 Pickups
Another biggie knocked out from the Delong set.
A cheap group of w572s. Most were had for 99 cents The George Burns is George Joseph Burns. It took a little detective work to figure which George Burns it was as there were 2 players with that name that playered for most of the 1920s.
Ja

hmm
hate to be the bearer of bad news Jay, but it looks like that Burns is Tioga George (Henry) Burns, or was at least supposed to be. The caption shows Boston A.L., and George H Burns played for the BoSox in 1922-23, whereas George J never played in the American League.
Nice cards though

Thanks, didn't even notice those tiny little captions on the bottom. I not an expert on uniforms, but I wasn't aware that the Red Sox ever wore Pinstripes like that. That's what I went on since I knew Cincinati had.
Well, off to update my collection data. Thanks

Re: March 2008 Pickups
ok so after scott posted the matty fan i wanted to give up buying for the month of march because nothing would top that , but...
i'm still winning e97s here and there, the kroh and carrigan are 2 of the tougher commons...sorry lionel kroh will be deslabbed and into the donruss collection, still trying but can't win a decent cobb bat-on and young glove shows.

Why would you crack Kroh? Although it may be worth much of a premium, it's still neat to be able to say and prove that you have a card that once belong to a hobby legend.

Nice 97s Quan. Kroh is a tough one. I missed the boat on that Lionel Carter one, but probably saved you some money.

Re: March 2008 Pickups
as some of you know, Ben and I traded e107's last month (my Joss for his Plank), I then was lucky enough to replace the Joss...

Now that's pretty cool. It's like a 2 for 1 E107 HOFer trade!
Congrats on picking up another Joss.

Wow. This thing is soooo cool in person. I just got it when I got home from school tonight and have been staring at it for half an hour. I can't believe how much more depth it has in person than any scan I've ever seen. Thx Jeff! I can't wait to go get it framed.
(BTW, Trae - that O'Leary is just stunning to look at.)
