Blair, Glad I backed off the 2 horizontals. I had been looking at them since the horizontals seem to have lost there luster lately. Kind of exciting getting near the end.

I really like the Bridwell. What's your final card needed to complete the set?

Re: March 2012 Pick Ups
Personally, I would never divulge publicly a last card I needed for a set. Too many jerks out there that will run up the price on someone just because they know the person needs the card.

Thanks Jamie,
The Bridwell is a very cool pose.
While I know what Jay is saying, my last card is one I'll have to be prepared to pay a big price for anyhow...it is the Wagner batting. I know what I want to pay, and I'm in no great hurry. I'll find the right one for the right price!

Thanks Lee! I'd say in general the prices for all Dockman commons were down while I was assembling the set (lucky timing for me). These ones I bought at Sterling - along with several others that just sold at Sterling (I mentioned in a different thread) - were at a significantly higher price point that I had been fortunate enough to benefit from over the last 3 years. Maybe the beginnings of a price rebound?
But yes - the horizontals always seem to command a higher price. Not sure how this is related, but my horizontals in this set are the lowest graded cards in my set. My set is generally roughly in VG-EX condition. I have many of the key cards in a "4" or even "4.5", which is pretty high grade for the set. But the horizontals are way below that (except the Bridwell). The Matty I bought in SGC 10 just to keep the price reasonable. The Seigle I got outbid on several times before I finally snagged an acceptable SGC 10 example. The Davis was one of the earlier ones I bought, but it is only a PSA 1. I'm OK with these cards because they are all lower grade from honest handling wear (no marks, no back damage, etc.)
Cheers,
Blair
