Mile High Card Co
That Yum Yum Cap Anson is unbelievable imo. Card of the Year. If I had the coin, I would go after it. Greatest player of the 19th Century on perhaps the rarest card, in a portrait pose, and the highest graded. Does it get any better? Okay, maybe N172 Anson in uniform. But this card is incredible imo.

It's too bad that it shows Ned Williamson instead of Cap Anson.

Definitely a cool and seldomly seen 19th century card. But the fact that it pictures Williamson and not Anson is a huge drawback for me. Kinda like the Irv/Cy Young e97.
Pretty sure I've seen Tonyetrade selling this on ebay with an enormous BIN (like 45k or something). Will be interesting to see where it ends up.

Agreed...would be an amazing card...if it depicted Cap...nice looking auction from mile high...I like the lot of e cards...containing 5 e94's...but doesn't say which ones...or show any images...maybe forthcoming?

I'm guessing that Uzit Cobb could reach stratospheric prices considering what t206 backs have been doing lately.
Re: Mile High Card Co
Wow, dang, I hadn't even realized that... whoops. Yeah, I thought it looked a little different from the other Anson pictures but assumed that it was just variations in light, etc. Ummm... nevermind, then, haha.

Ben...agreed....that'd make a good contest...do you have any nice cards you're willing to give away?

The Yum/Yum Anson/Williamson has hit 20k after juice, the different photo certainly hasn't deterred some bidders, I suppose that as long as the card counts as an Anson in a Set Registry, that's all that matters to some. Personally, I do think it should count as an Anson since the card was intended to be him even if they had to use a different portrait.

I guess it all depends if you collect words or photos IMO.
No way I would count it as an Anson but we're all different.
Same reason I don't collect all the Cy Youngs that have a picture of Irv Young.
The Yum Yum is a great card and significant but I wouldn't pay Anson money, it's not Anson.

If I ever happened to be in the bidding for such a card (which I'm not), I would certainly pay more if it featured Anson in the photo, but nevertheless a great card that imo still does count as an Anson card since that was the intention of the manufacturer.

Interesting the the house made no mention that the photo was not actually Anson.

Re: Mile High Card Co
In fact they did:
"the generations-old allure of this mythical pre-1900 masterpiece has not been dampened by the substitution of a look-alike in place of Anson"
Then they go on to say it is Dalyrimple when in fact it was Williamson.
It's all right there in the fine print

If it really sold, it is a crazy price ($40K). Ned Williamson is hardly a look-alike for Cap Anson

Abner Dalrymple is the body on the Old Judge Anson in Uniform image.
Ned Williamson is the player shown in the Yum Yum Anson.
