Re: July Pickup thread
I'm not sure the books are still available from SABR but if you can get your hands on Deadball Stars of the AL and Deadball Stars of NL, they are well worth the read.

Re: July Pickup thread
Thanks Jerry! It looks nice sitting next to my '15 CJ Plank.
I'm semi-considering going after other CJ HOFers with nice eye appeal. Unfortunately the ones I really want (Wagner, Cobb, Jax) aren't within my budget right now.

that mack is very clean! still undecided whether i like the CJ or the e96 portrait better (cost about the same). with the CJ you get more card for the $$$ and written text on back....but he looks alot more stern

Picked up a crown jewel for my collection. It's an original countertop display that would have held 50 or so Gypsy Queen cigarette packs. Condition is wonderful.
Re: July Pickup thread
That is a spectacular box, John.

Glad your Max Stein arrived safely and you like it, Jerry. Looks pretty sweet for a SGC 30, don't it? It probably fits your collection better than it did mine, enjoy the card!
Re: July Pickup thread
I picked up the E270 Tin Top Frank Manush (Toledo) recently, as I already had the New Orleans version. Notice how they corrected the spelling mistake on the Toledo version. Frank was Heinie's older brother...
Also picked up two new E270 Red Borders, Otto Williams and some guy named Speaker...
I also picked up about (100) 1924-27 Zeenuts from that large group recently auctioned on ebay...
also, tell me it doesn't look like Charlie Pick just didn't finish groovin' (disco style)!

Hey Quan great pickup! I was following that E101 Cobb and I thought you got a bargain. Looks very clean for a SGC 20 (back is nice too)
