Ebay 2008 Retrospect
Can you think of any rarities that poped up on Ebay in 2008. I can't think of any at this time. I remember a couple years ago or was it longer that there was a group of E222's and some N167's but that was atleast a couple years ago or longer. Can you think of anything of this stature that came to light in 2008.

That's a good question...I can't remember any cards of such significance on ebay this year. There were a few newsboy cabinets...and the baltimore newsday(M 131's) find...which was pretty significant.

N321
There was one N321 that sold this year on ebay, I believe it went for just over two thousand dollars. It was a decent PSA 1. Also, I can't remember if it was this year or last year when a group of Kalamazoo Bats sold. There was one that went for over $50,000 and I believe Olberman won it.

There was a Baltimore KBat on eBay this past year that didn't make reserve if I recall. There have been many rare lower dollar items, and obviously the T206 Wagner was the not so rare high-dollar item.

How 'bout this: http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-T206-White-Border-Honus-Wagner-PSA-5_W0QQitemZ250348222012QQihZ015QQcategoryZ31718QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247
Not spectacular price-wise, but as a type collector, I thought the groups of Tarzans and Derby Cigars that Mastro sold were pretty impressive...

Re: Ebay 2008 Retrospect
Gotta say, 2008 was a weak year for scarce cards on ebay. I'm sure there are some that I'm forgetting about, but beyond the ones that have been mentioned already, there isn't much coming to mind.
One cool thing I remember seeing maybe 5-6 months ago was a large 1915 Boston Red Sox team silk. It was a huge piece measuring 24" by 24", and was in fabulous condition with a large image of the team in the center and individual players in the corners. It had the original silver tassels still intact around the edges. Unfortunately the auction was ended early so I didn't have a chance to bid on it, nor do I have any price record.
I thought I still had the full sized scan, but this is all I can come up with:

I remember there was a guy on the other board who picked up a T206 Magie from eBay; it later graded an SGC 50 (I think that was 2008?). Anybody remember this?

The large group of M131s on ebay will be pretty hard to beat.
Was it in 2008 that Koteles found a N162 Welch?

What did the Welsh sell for? Was it a Buy-it-now?

Re: Ebay 2008 Retrospect
I believe Dan K sold it privately for a nice little profit. It was bought with the buy-it-now option on Ebay.
I wasn't kidding either. I literally missed it by seconds to Dan. He called me when he snagged it and said
"did you see this". My response, "#%@#*"...........
