Re: New Year Pick-Ups
That's an interesting quad. Almost a half century of the game right there.

Did Paige ever age? He doesn't look very old there but had to be in around 70 or older at that time.
Re: New Year Pick-Ups
1971? He was only six years removed from his last brief stint with the Kansas City Athletics in 1965, at 59. Played for the Anchorage Earthquakes for a couple years after, I think until 1967. He was probably fresh off the mound when the photo was taken. Probably pitched in the suit.

I remember him sitting in the bullpen with the Braves after K.C. He didn't pitch. They had him on the roster a while to get enough time for his pension. He was ready to go in though!

E101 Wagner should be here tomorrow. Pretty excited about it since it's my first early e-card. I have mainly collected t-cards but decided I would add an e-card.

great wagner card! (i'm obligated to praise it because i have one and feel the need to pump it up and get the interest going for whatever i collect or have financial ties in)
seriously, i love the batting pose with the red background much more than the michelin man throwing pose.

Thanks!! I too like the batting pose better than the throwing. And I'm more than willing to help pump up the interest.

Re: New Year Pick-Ups
e102s are popular because burdick assumed (wrongly) that the e102s were released one year earlier than the e101s. there's always been a big price disparity between the cobbs because of this...people thinking the 1908 e102 cobb was his rookie card. they're all the same, just with different backs.
