REA...question re lot 329
Is this the brown lenox back that generated some controversy way back when as to whether it is in fact a brown lenox back? I believe it was submitted by the Levy's?
It definitely looks different from the black one it is positioned next to...but oh so subtle!

Shellacked cards are a real rarity in the hobby and I have 2 of them.

If it is that particular one, it's funny how it's the out of sight out of mind mentality. If you keep it out of the hobby long enough, maybe collectors will forget it?
Edited to add: I personally can't remember the one from a few years ago.

That card in question was a Brown Old Mill, not Lenox. The Levy's had a factory cut Texas league player that SGC made a mistake and labeled as brown.
The Levy's swore up and down it was a new variation to the hobby a dark brown or something...
and super rare but had decided to list it in Goodwin.
Brown Old Mills are hand cut and not found on Texas players, the card they had was black just a bad flip on the holder saying it was brown.
Cheers,
John

Thanks John for the clarification.
As soon as you said Brown Old Mill, I immediately remembered it.
