Your avatar looks fine to me. The overlapping problem might have to do with your computer's monitor settings. Check out this thread:

Thanks! That worked Ben, but it makes everything WAY too tiny for my terrible eyes! Definitely gotta wear my reading glasses with this resolution lol.
