Cool card and has a Broadleaf back. I say $1200 before BP. But I canceled my VCP, so who knows. I could be way off.

That card will probably end up going for 50K.

You think? I know very little about the T207 set, but using T206 rare back variations as an example ... HOFers with rare backs like Broadleaf 460, for example, don't typically command the "HOF premium" + the "rare back premium". It is as if people look for the rare back "type" for their collection and are putting the premium on that moreso than who is on the front. That said, the big name on the front does add some... just not as much as might normally be expected. In this case, the front is arguably one of the most desireable in the set and the back is apparently stupid rare. Anything can happen with a card that might be a "one of" - ala two whales who've got to have it - but short of that, I guess I don't see this card going for $50k. I've been surprised before though.
Upon further reflection, I'm not sure that this reaches the extremes of the "Pirate cigarette" sale previously, but the rarity of the T207 + Red Cross combo could possibly evoke memories of that sale. It really could go either way. In short, I see 5 figures for the card easily, but am not sure it'll get to $50k. That said, with as hot as T207s have been recently and the impossibility of this front/back combo, I suppost it is possible that it even goes 6 figures. I'll just be in awe like everybody else.

My first thought on the price of card was $50k. It's one of the few cards in the hobby that to me has some serious WOW! factor.

"two irregular cuts along the perimeter side edges"
Can anyone elaborate?

Re: t207 lowdermilk
I don't see that card hitting 50k - Lowdermilk is extremely rare in the 207 set but outside of T207 set collectors, who wants one? It is not an iconic card in the hobby IMO. If you just want a red cross, I would expect most bidders will focus their money on a more "common" example within the REA auction.
I see it breaking 5 figures easily, and going for around 25k tops though - it is an amazing front/back combo.

Re: t207 lowdermilk
personally...I consider the lowdy an iconic card in the hobby! since I started ccollecting in the late 70's it was always displayed with the t206 wags, plank...33 goudey lajoie and some others. now maybe this has changed...but to me...when I see one...its somewhat special to me. I'd guess the one in goodwin will sell for 2k and the red cross one anywhere from 25-60K.

As cool as the Lowdermilk/Red Cross is I also dont see 50k, more like 20k I think.
I also agree iconic card, in fact it was the Beckett #3 that had cards from the Halper Collection that showed all 3. In fact to this day I've been trying to get one of every card on that page...Wagner maybe not...LOL
In fact that's why I bought these 2.

Wonka...funny...that's why I became a type collector...because of the color images of cards from the halper collection in the old price guide...and this may be part of the reason those cards are so special to me too!!! In addition to the cards depicted on the 1975 topps portraying previous mvp winners.

Re: t207 lowdermilk
Lowdermilk pitched a total of 80 innings in MLB. Although he managed to live to the ripe old age of 88, and died in 1975, if he were alive today I think he'd be pretty surprised to know that today a baseball card of him is worth thirty thousand bucks!

I think it's worth so much because he looks like Dwight from the Office...My guess is $33k.

There's another T207 Lowdermilk with a red cycle back coming up for sale soon, so we'll get to see how much of an anomaly that one was.

Re: t207 lowdermilk
If I was still chasing my player set, I would have been all over that Lowdermilk at that price. Then again, with my luck, all I would have been doing was making it more expensive for the winner.
Re: t207 lowdermilk
The final price for the Lowdermilk before juice was $792.
Since there seems to be interest in the final price of the Lowdermilk Red Cross in REA. I will run a contest with the book "The Card" as the prize. I will start the thread sometime in March.
