There is also a Collins (Eddie) and a Tinker, but I have never seen either one.

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
My aspirations for 2011 are to knock off at least 10 Cycle 460s off my list of 29. Also planning on picking up a few more T202s with backs I don't have.
Other than that there always seems to be other items that peak my interest and make me spend my money.
King, What 4 Polar Bears do you need?

Deemphasize 1933 Goudey HOFers in my collection
Shame on you!!!!!
Ha! Just saw this.
Deemphasizing them has much more to do with other sets hogging up resources than not liking the Goudeys.

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
With the help of Sabrjay, I was able to finish up the T205 set...I am going to upgrade it slowly as good buys come up...but it has sort of left me without a focus. I have a good start on a T206 set, and I think my next objective will be working on the t206 players (minus Wagner/Plank) who are not included in the T205 set.

My search for Cycle 460s has been narrow by one more thanks to King.
Nine more for my goal.

What's cool is that initially I was a little worried about posting my wantlist. Turns out doing so not only helped me, but Lee too.

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
I'm going to continue mainly working on several things:
*Red Sox collection - had some great pickups in 2010, and hoping for more in 2011...now moving to the top of my wants are a nice T3 Speaker (I know this is not tough, but the right one at the right price has eluded me), any rare Speaker card I don't have yet, a Cracker Jack Harry Hooper, and a T207 Joe Wood.
*Dockman set - I'm at 32 out of 40 and could possibly complete this in 2011.
*C60 Lacrosse set - I'm at 78/98 - need 20 more (all commons, but these are not easy cards).

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
Posting a want list or even a dream list is always a good thing. I got my dream card because someone started thread about "what is your dream card?" and someone offered me my dream card at a price I could afford,

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
It would knock me out of collecting anything else for a year or 2, but I would love to find a Big Eater this year.
As to the above post re: c60, yes, they are very hard to find. I completed it about 4 years ago & it took about 2 years of active searching to find them all. Good luck.

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
Sorry for the confusion, I am looking for cards for my Roberto Clemente master set.
I wish I had any D380 Clement Brothers card much less working on a set.

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
I just consigned most of my near set of t205s to REA. I can always get the t205s again but depending on how well the lot does, I will hopefully be chasing a few of the GeorgeD cards. I'd rather have those in my collection than my t205s since I have a personal connection to those cards since I spent a lot of time with George helping him sort things out.

Cool Jay...Best of luck...just let us know which ones you'll be going after so we don't bid each other up!

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
I wouldn't want that even if it was offered. This is the fairest way to do it. If it means parting with a chunk of my collection to get the card I want, then so be it. I am happily making this choice with no regrets.
Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
I hope to pick up a few of the remaining PCL cards I want in the 1909-1911 Obak sets, the 1912 Home Run Kisses and 1912 Zeenut sets. I would also like to pick up some more colored S74 Chief Meyers' silks.
Happy New Year,
Patrick

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
I just wanted to revive this thread and see how our goals went for the year. Personally I got 6 Cycle 460s, plus a bunch of other Cycle back cards (new minor focus) and about 15 T202s plus a few other cards that caught my eye. Below my goals on the Cycle 460s but the market has really changed and really altered that landscape.
Were others able to follow there path?

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
Ha...I picked up a few cards on my initial list...a red e98 jennings...a t213 III Byrne...I broke up my t206 back run...so uzit and drum are off the list...and I'm trying to complete an e94 set(3 cards away)....which was an afterthought of a goal.

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
this year i got a few cool signed pieces knocked off the list:
ted williams, foxx, speaker, hornsby, greenberg, sisler etc.
a few for 2012 would be ed walsh, wagner, lajoie. if the sigs are on an actual card even better!

Deemphasize 1933 Goudey HOFers in my collection
Attend the National Show in Chicago.
Update:
- Added an E107 HOFer (Chief Bender) and also upgraded my E107 McGinnity, added an E107 Dahlen (potential HOFer), and a Kid Gleason with the Breisch-Williams overprint back.
- Went the other way and sold all the E103s prior to getting the Cobb
- Successfully de-emphasized the Goudeys by selling them off.
- Attended the National Show

Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
I got my card from GeorgeD's collection. I originally wanted one of the t207 Red Cross cards but the small lot of t215s was so cheap I couldn't pass it up. It turned out to be a good deal as I was able to keep one card and move the rest for what I paid for the whole lot
Re: Collecting Aspirations for 2011
When I posted in this thread early in the year, I had a secret dream of winning the SGC 10 1912 Boston Garter Matty in the Paragon auction, and paying for it by selling off my entire collection (minus e107 Joss). Turned out to be just a pipe dream and the Matty price was stratospheric. Oh well, it's fun to dream sometimes. I'll still be on the lookout for any 1912 Boston Garter this year, although the likelihood of me acquiring one is very slim.
