I came across a few R301 Overland Candy "cards" on ebay today and it got me thinking. I know they're scarce, and also very expensive. Are these even cards though? It appears as though they are printed on paper stock, and don't have the design elements of a baseball card. They look like candy wrappers or something of that nature.

What's the appeal of these? Why so spendy?

Here's a Gehrig that could be yours for only $2500....

I've always considered them wrappers. That's certainly what they appear to be.

hey guys,

overland candy wrappers (cards) are very scarce. the fact that they were the packaging and not an insert lends to the scarcity. there are football players too, which are even more scarce than their baseball counterparts.

gehrig is a a bit high, imo.....but where can you find another?

find me a football player and name your price Smile

Andy, the seller has a bunch of R301's up now, including lower grade examples of Foxx and Dimaggio for much cheaper prices.

They're not my cup of tea personally, but I'm still interested in learning more about them.

Can't say I've ever seen a football R301.
