Pardon me if I am breaking rules. Years to too much drama eventually lead a lapse in my membership across the way when they moved servers and wouldn't move my user id to transfer. Since I am more a grazer than a contributor, well, I do not post too much, so I do not know what are the rules for good behavior here. So, overland candy thread across the street. I love this kind of discussion and posting and sharing of information.
One of the posters observes that his wrapper has ingredients on it. There's a new law in 1938, the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, and if I recall my econ courses right, one application of this law was a regulation to require ingredient lists on packaging. Below, I link to the thread and another to the law.

The implication may be that wrappers with no ingredients are pre-1938, while wrappers with ingredients may be post-1938. Would be interesting of this law could be better studied and then wrappers of other issues from this era examined for improved dating of product issues.

We have no problem with anyone mention other sites or bringing up topics from "across the street".
Certainly a very interesting topic. Having a food business myself, I can relate to the whole ingredients on the label thing.

I have the only known original box from this issue and several of the wrappers. This is a very neat observation. I will have to take a look at my wrappers.
