Wow - N403 Yum Yum Anson on Ebay

Not often you see one of these on ebay - N403 Yum Yum Anson.

The card actually pictures Ned Williamson, which lessens its appeal. Still a monster card though. $50,000 is obviously a pie in the sky price - what do you think a realistic estimate would be for this card?

Is it a reputable dealer offering it? I've been lucky enough to see a complete set and the picture quality doesn't look right.

Since I've never been able to visualize myself in the market for this card, I have no idea regarding the price. With that said, if this was a guess the price lottery, I'd pick $21,587.

Reputable yes, but Tony does try to get 300-500% over what a card is worth. I have done a few deals with Tony and he tends to try and get top dollar for his cards. Not saying what he is doing is wrong just a little short sighted considering this market.

That said....i would think the card could fetch $11,500

didn't notice the link. That's a really odd color but if it passed SGC muster then it's probably good. I still don't like the color though. Just seems odd and reeks of a photocopy pasted to a backing.

I would guess that the card is legit. Tony has been known to have and go aggressively after high end stuff. The SGC slab bears additional evidence of authenticity as well.
I'm really not much of a 19th c. guy, so I will defer to others on what a realistic price is. Suffice it to say though, that I doubt anyone is going to hit the BIN.

i'd rather have the OJ anson that ended at $2700 last night and save myself some cash.

plus you get an actual pic of Anson instead of a picture of Williamson. Not that he was a bad player, just not Anson.

I've never understood why with a card like this or other misidentified players, that people will pay a premium for the name on the card but not who is pictured on the card. A perfect example taht comes to mind is the 1971 Topps Chris Short card. Pete Rose is also on the card, but there is no premium for the card even though Rose is pictured. Now if the card had the name Rose on it and just a picture of Chris Short, people would be paying Pete Rose prices instead of Chris Short prices.

The card is legitimate and and Tony is a reputable dealer, although he's usually a bit high with his prices. The images, as noted, isn't Anson , and therefore the card loses lots of its appeal. Anson has two cards in the set, however. His other card, a ready-to-bat image, is a line drawing and most certainly depicts the Anson we are all familiar with.

FYI, the Tony mentioned above is Tony Arnold -aka- Tony Etrade and not myself. Many confuse me with him alot.
Reputable, yes. Over priced, yes. I can think of many other cards I'd spend that chunk of change on other than this
Anson card. In my opinion it's worth 1/3'rd of what it's listed for.

Tony's prices are high, but I have bought from him before after negotiating a more "reasonable" price. I think he is one of those dealers who puts a very high sticker price on a card and if someone pays it - great. He is very willing to negotiate though.

As for the Anson card - I love the Yum Yum set, but you are paying a top-end HOF price for a card that was misidentified. Its a Ned Williamson card that is mistakenly labeled, and I personally wouldn't pay more than I would pay for any other common player Yum Yum card in a similar grade.
