Your slickest eBay purchase in last 12 months
Curious what everyone's best deal was over the last 12 months on ebay. For me, there was no question. I picked up a raw T204 Ramly from a seller in Canada that had no idea what the card was. He said in his auction description it was found in an old book and had been stored there for years. (likely story I know). I did a BIN with the seller for $100. Sent it to PSA and it came back a 7. I ended up turning the common Ramly PSA 7 for a E95 Cobb PSA 4...not bad for $100. Wondering what the best deal was anyone else got.

Texas Tommy Meyers
Wow, that's a great deal you made there Dave.
Well, it's been my quietest year in the hobby (at least that I can remember). Working overseas will do that I guess. But I did manage to scoop up this Texas Tommy Meyers on ebay for what I thought was a bargain price (around $400). Doesn't really compare to the Texas Tommy Mack I once had, but the Chief still has a happy home up here with me.

This past year wasn't so great for me in the "deals" category on eBay. While this one is nowhere near being in the same league as the deals Dave and Ben got, I considered it a nice "bargain" at under $300. Sorry for the bad scan - it was the one used in the seller's auction (probably another reason for the nice price).

I purchased a lot of 3 T209's from an auction that only accepted money orders and he listed the T209-1 as trimmed, but it looked fine to me and cost $200. Sent them off to SGC, the T209-1 received a 60 (highest graded) and the 2 T209-2's only received 30's (what I was expecting). After selling them I made a nice little profit...and added a porch to the house.
After that my wife stopped questioning my card spending.

mine were on Net 54 BST...
I bought a E107 Roy Thomas SGC 30 for $1,100 and sold it for $2,000 a few months later. Also, bought a raw E106 Larry Doyle and psa graded it a PSA 4, bought it for $100 and sold it for $675.
Also, i had 1 good buy on Ebay last year. Bought a M116 Hans Wagner with scarce back PSA 4 for around $3,200 range and sold it for $6,000 a month later.

I only bought 2 cards on eBay last year. One, a really nice Neilsens's Chocolate card of Torporcer for $15. It's on it's way to SGC, so in about 6 weeks I'll see how much I make off it. Hoping it will get at least a 70.

Ugh, I was the original owner of that Doyle.

E106 Doyle...a bunch
of guys on net 54 were saying the card was trimmed. I bought it off a guy from net 54 on the bst. I measured the card before i sent it to PSA and it seemed fine to me, maybe ever so slightly under but not enough for me to think it was trimmed. I figure PSA would have sent it back ungraded if they thought it may be altered.
But...with PSA rep. in doubt lately about the T206 Wagner anything is possible.
The guy i sold the Doyle to did not care what people though, he figured it was graded and that was good enough for him.

Great looking Cobb and definitely a steal at $1900 raw. Given that offers for SGC 30 are higher than $1900 you paid, I can only imagine what that card went for graded.

The card was clearly trimmed, regardless of size. Even my novice eyes could tell - it was a bad trim job at best. I sold it to Manos will full disclosure of the trimming. PSA has their head up, well, you know.

oh ok...
Thats who i bought it from with no metion of it being trimmed. I sent it to PSA and if it came back trimmed then i would have kept it and if i did want to sell it down the road then i would have mentioned it being trimmed. I sold it to Gary N. and called him right away to let him know what people were saying, he did not care and bought the card. I just wanted to be honest.
I respect your opinion on it being trimmed but when i got the card i did measure it and looked at it closely. I can't remember what size i got but it was pretty close to the size it should be.
But...you are more experienced than i....

Here is a nice big scan of the E106 Doyle i sold....
I believe you think the right side is trimmed?

Not an expert
I am by no means an expert, but the bottom edge is trimmed. It is wavy, and when I put in on a flat surface you could really see the problem. The color of the card stock was also much whiter along the bottom edge which is a clear giveaway.

Pulled the trigger on a 1915 Zeenut McMullin SGC 30 with a BIN of $4,000.
Within three weeks sold it.

I remember that one - I saw it, debated about buying it. Then, when I went back to get it, you had purchased it. Sometimes it doesn't pay to think things over. Glad you got it however - congrats!
