What is This Matty Issue?
Any idea what exactly this is? I initially thought a notebook cover but I the it is the size of a card or stamp.

That was my first thought too. Doesn't look right if it's supposed to be from his playing days

You don't see them very often, but still, I was surprised someone paid that price for that condition.

Very interesting only 5 players known to exist? How many others unknown out there? Quite a line up so far.

Really? I thought $200 was fairly reasonable for a seldomly seen Matty stamp, if it is indeed period.
I've come across these stamps a few times in the past, but haven't kept any scans/price records on file. I agree that they don't have a period look to them, but I guess as far as we know they're from 1912? Somehow I doubt that date is set in stone.
I like how they're a bit larger larger and much nicer looking than their contemporaries, the Helmar stamps.
