What is this Cobb?
Looks kind of like a m101-3, but it's b&w and the dimensions don't match. The seller states that it measures 3.5 x 2. Am I'm missing something obvious here (entirely possible), or could this be a homemade fake of some sort?

Also weird that the scan was made 11 years ago...

Can't say I've ever seen that particular picture of Cobb before. I like it and I don't like many Cobb pics. No idea what it is though, but it is interesting looking, stains and all.

By the date on the photo it is at least 11 years old so it must be vintage.
Isn't that the same type of writing that is on the Butterfinger issue?

Strange
It is the same photo used in m101-3--see below (borrowed from Old Cardboard site)--even the script name and team match m101-3.
I've seen m101-3 Cobbs that have virtually no colorized tint, and that, with the possibility of fading or weathering, might explain something. Still, as Ben noted, this card is the wrong size for m101-3, which are post cards that have post card backs, not blank, and the cropping is a little different here. The Sporting News designation found in the bottom right corner seems missing too. Without having it hand, I would be very skeptical--maybe it is a modern tribute or commemorative type card that has been artificially "aged".

cardboard looks all wrong. i think if we can hold it in hand we can tell right away one way or another.
could be just a home-made xeroxed copy of an original scan somewhere.

I think this is a recently made fake and didn't bid. Seller is in that mid West area where they are making all kinds of fakes. I didn't like the quality of the actual picture. Dan.
