Re: Finds
Wow John...crazy...at that point I was 12 and spending my
money on 1988 and 1989 Topps, Donruss, Score, Fleer and even splurged on a
Upper Deck pack or two. I wonder how much those are worth now?

Re: Finds
When I was about 8 or 9, in the early 80's, I wanted tobacco cards more than anything. I had two of the reprint cards that are always on eBay. You know the ones, where the back of the cards conveniently tell the buyer how much the card is worth in a big red box. Anyway, I would hold them while pouring over my 80's topps cards and imagine how cool it would be if I luckily found a tobacco card in my grandparents house or something like that. My dad would take my older brother and I to card shows, but I never looked for tobacco cards because I thought they were just so rare that I would never actually see one in real life. I had seen the T206 Wagner that the HOF had on display, but that was it. If I had known that I probably could have found quite a few of them at these shows, and that I could've afforded them, I would have been in heaven. Instead I spent all my card money on Eric Davis RC's.
Re: Finds
great story, John. any rare backs or error/variations in that find? I bought my first t206...a beater white cap matty for $2 in the early eighties...I'm 38. I wish I had the balls to spend my bar mitzvah money on cards back then

Just wait 100 years. Then you'll probably have something worth a lot! While you're waiting for a century to pass, they can be used to make your bicycle sound like a motorcycle. Good investment!!!!!!!!

Re: Finds
You have to be in it to win it.
We have all had opportunities to go "all in" and make the big buy.
And we still do.
You just got to pull the trigger.

Re: Finds
A dream find???........Check out item 280226539923 on eBay. I wonder if this is a legit find? Are we being set up with a non-HOFer card? Why sell just one at a time? Am I being too cautious?

Re: Finds
The card doesn't look right. The back looks wrong, with borders being way too wide, especially given the wear the card exhibits.

Forget it!!!!! I thought they found 150 T-206s in a wall. Looks like a hodge-podge of different items. Time to kill this topic.
