Hey Dan, this card is in such sad shape that I'm sure it detracts from the other fantastic WaJos in your collection - so, how about selling or trading it to me?!
Seriously, many thanks for showing this WaJo card, which may possibly be the only one to exist!

Pete, The Standard Catalog of Vintage BB Cards shows that W504s were produced for 4 teams - Dodgers, Giants, Yankees & Senators. Ruth is listed as being one of the Yankees. I believe the Senators are considered the toughest to find and the Dodgers the easiest to find.

Pete, there are 16 individual player cards for each team, plus a team card. My 2011 edition of the Standard Catalog lists only 9 of the 16 Senators, the remainder being unknown, at least to the Catalog folks. And, WaJo is NOT among the 9 listed listed. Now, it may be that later edition of this Catalog have more of the Senators listed. All 16 players on the other 3 teams are check-listed.

no doubt it's a toughie, Val...I just have a hard time beliebing that many cards are truly 1 of a kind.

Pete, what is your definition of "many" in this context? I truly believe there are many (as in hundreds) uniquely-known-to-exist vintage cards. For starters, you have the 70+ 1921 Herpolsheimer's cards - in addition to the WaJo example I am thrilled to have picked up in the LOTG Auction, I have a few other WaJos that are 1 of 1's, as far as I can determine. I realize that as the "old-timer" collections come to light over the next 20 years or so, additional examples of cards thought to be 1 of 1's will surface. But, if every unknown vintage card surfaced, I still think there would be hundreds of 1 of 1's.

Unique sets like the 21' Herpolsheimers and the 04' Allegheny cards are anomalies. There are not "many" sets that are unique such as these...in fact besides maybe a 19th c set or 2(alpha engraving comes to mind) I can't really think of any other "unique" sets of which only 1 set is known to exist. I have no issue with these such cards being termed 1 of a kind.
I am a firm believer that there are numerous "old time" collections out there...of substantial quality and magnitude covering a great breadth of variety of cards...and many supposed 1 of a kinds will be ultimately proven to be maybe...2-3-4 of a kind...that's all.
When people discuss T206 fr/back combos as being 1 of a kind...I just can't believe that only one card out of millions and millions potentially produced/or survived. And while I realize that comparing t206 to w504 is like comparing the GDP of the US to that of Burundi...I still have a hard time believing there is only 1!
I just feel the term is way overused...and is mainly used as an optimistic marketing tool in many cases.
I just have a really hard time believing that

Well, Jay...with the total population of red cross t207's as low as it is....most of which are 1 of 1's...originally from the bayou...he could be 1 of a kind...good chance of that! He's dead to me!!!!!
