January 2014 Pick-Ups

Not Pre-War but thought I'd kick off the year & month with a recent pick-up. I don't usually collect basketball but couldn't pass this one up at a reasonable price. 1971-72 Topps Trio, Hawkins/Mullins/Alcindor. Goes well with Bird/Erving/Johnson triple panel.....

cool card...I know nothing about basketball cards...but just looking at it...it looks older than 71-72!

Yeah, the Mullins picture says Copyright 1968, but I thought Alcindor was not drafted until '69. These stickers were released by Topps in 1972 but appear to have older images of players. Strange.....

Gettin' in just under the wire for January. One big dog (or, more accurately, train) and a bunch of commons. 21 to go!

I'm doing a Subjects Only set - One card for each actual individual depicted in the set. No duplicates of anybody. So, I'm only putting together 391 cards. Used to think it was 392 until I realized Meyers and Myers were the same guy. Shared first name 'Chief' probably should've tipped me off sooner.

In many cases u r correct, Jay.  This pose is used on a few E/W sets as well.
