That Safe at Third is epic! Looks like a Pizarro in the background.

Re: april pickups
Did anyone ever identify the players? I believe these were all based on photographs, right?

Yes... they are based on photos. Not sure who the players are... I never tried to figure it out.
T3 #46 "Safe at Third" is based on a photo by Brown Bros. NY and found in a book entitled "Around the World with a Camera" published by Leslie-Judge Company in 1910.

Re: april pickups

I've been keeping my powder dry recently, but when this was offered to me privately I simply could not pass. There seem to be a lot of people (board members included) on M101-6 lately.

This is not a post card as it is blanked back. It is... It is... I don't know what it is.
You're right. It is just a big card of a Giants player that I must have.
Todd and Chris B. know a lot more. I will say, the photos have a striking clarity and bring to life that era better than any other piece I have yet come across.
Here's a link to the M101-6 gallery here: https://vbbc.forumotion.com/t182-m101-6

I don't collect catchers - unless they are in the M101-6 set

Re: april pickups
That is an awesome shot. I'm curious about one thing, though: Even in the actual photo of this moment that appears in this thread, I can't tell if that ball is on its way in, or it's rebounding out from deflection/contact. This shot kinda makes it look like it's on its way in (note the motion blurring on the right rather than left side of the ball), but that doesn't make a lot of sense given the baseman's position. What do you all think?
Regardless, it's a very cool card. Ranks right up there with Pee Wee Reese's '53 Bowman color action card:

In fact, I'd say "Safe at Third" wins, narrowly, given that it's based on a real moment and not staged (which I assume the Reese is).

Re: april pickups
If you look at the Safe at Third image vs. the photograph, they actually put the ball in a different place.

Re: april pickups
You're right, terjung: It's definitely not in the same place in both images. I think the real problem, however, is that they've compressed the runner's body in the card as opposed to the photo. He has a broader and longer chest in 'real life' than he does in the card.

Z-Nut: Awesome cards! Love that battered Bender. Just curious: Are these Type 1's, 2's, or 3's?

Re: april pickups
Picked up these 1948, 1957 & '58 Wenatchee Chiefs team photos. More central Washingon Minor leaguers to add to the collection.

The '57 & '58 team photos have Ellensburg native, pitcher, Stu Hanson in them (also have '54 Ellensburg Cowboys Semi-pro baseball signed by Stu). The '58 photo also has one of the first photos of Cuban ballplayer, the "Immortal Azcue".
