Don't know who bought it offline, but I have a few pretty good guesses
Sweet card.
Sweet card.
Re: Wonder who bought this one offline?
Help me understand something. What's the significance of being "uncatalogued?"

Depends on the popularity of the set where an uncatalogued card comes from really. An verified authentic uncatalogued T206 would be a huge event in the hobby; an uncatalogued card from a modern unpopular issue may not even be worth any more than a "catalogued" issue.
Donno if the GQ Sunday was known before this one; if not, that is a major find. With the popularity of that set right now I am guessing the seller left money on the table either way.
Re: Wonder who bought this one offline?
Does the seller claiming that the card was unlisted mean that it is a previously unknown card? If it was previously unknown, how do you know it's legit?
Sorry for the 20 questions... I just really enjoy learning new things about baseball cards.

I did some checking and in fact there is no Gypsy Queen Billy Sunday, large or small, listed in the 2011 Standard Catalog Of Baseball Cards.. It's possible the card may already be well known to those that collect N175's and that it just hasn't found it's way into the big book yet.

On older issues like this, knowing it is legit comes with years of handling cards and knowing what to look for in a legit card.
The person making the announcement of a new discovery isn't necessarily the person that made the discovery. Some hobbyist prefer to keep uncatalogued cards they have unknown to the public for various reasons. I've had some experience with finding uncatalogued cards. To date, I've discovered the t207 brown back Recruit, e90-3 Hofman variation and several e104 type 3 cards. With the t207 and e90-3 finding those was the result of years of handling cards and realizing there was something different. The e104-3s was the result of buying cards from someone who had misidentified the cards as e92 Nadjas.

I hope the seller got at least $5K for it.

Could you be any more vague? were you the buyer?
Re: Wonder who bought this one offline?
I was being vague intentionally. I may not want everyone to know every card I purchase.

You are off-section again. Last time the Delahanty should have gone in the B/S/T, this time the GQ's should have been posted in the pickups section.

Really... so scans of cards should never be in anything other than the PICKUP threads? It was a thread about a Gypsy Queen, and I chose to show other GQs that I purchased. Seems logical to me.
But for your pleasure... I removed them. I hope you have a nice evening.

Eric, you are going on ignore for your horrific signature. Sorry dude, that's three strikes.
PS Try finding an avatar. You could use a GQ there.

Wow. That is an amazing card.
I took a look at the seller's other items (as I'm sure by now everyone else already has) and wonder if a great purchase was had here.
It was not titled very well, but obviously the 'gypsy queen' is really all that was needed.
Congratulations to whomever got it.

Nothing wrong with show off cards that are on topic to a thread as long as there isn't a sales pitch with them.

That's fine. Didn't mean to pry. Whoever did get the card made a hell of a pickup!
Re: Wonder who bought this one offline?

I, for one, enjoy seeing similar cards like the GQs he posted. ...provided there is no sales pitch (like Jay said).
Great cards, Eric!
