Ebay help question?
In addition to collecting bb cards...I collect studio pottery as well...and I recently put some pots on ebay. 1 was a cup...which while packaging for shipment I noticed a little chip on the rim. I alerted the highest bidder and amended the description to include this info. The auction still had 28 hours left.
Now after shipping the package...the winning bidder is complaining she didnt know it was chipped and wants her money back. IT's clearly stated no returns in the description...and frankly I think she's responsible for her lack of reading the description prior to bidding. It's $50...not about $$$ to me...matter of principle!
What would y'all do?

Re: Ebay help question?
I'd send her an email apologizing for her disappointment and ask that she return the item for a full refund. I wouldn't mention the description and your no return policy--Paypal will side with her regardless of what you say, right or wrong. Make it as hassle-free for her and you might end up with a positive. It sucks I know, but it's part of doing business on ebay.

Also if she files a claim against you in Paypal, which she'd win because ebay always sides with the buyer, you could be out the $50 and the pot, since there is no guarantee that she'll send it back to you. I've gotten burned like that before (except mine was for a 1K item). That sucked......

What Eric said. I've been burned several times by paypal because they are far too trusting of the buyer's story.

Welcome to the world of getting screwed by Paypal as a seller. If you have never been there your turn is coming.

Re: Ebay help question?
The fact that the chip wasn't mentioned from the beginning may have made it easy for her to miss. She may have done an initial bid early, and not reread the description after ebay alerted her to the posting update. I think you were very honest in updating the description but I can see her missing it. If she was just watching the item, she doesn't even get a notice that the description was updated. I don't know if she bid early or was just watching.
Anyhow, all of the responses are are completely correct. And as a seller and a buyer, I actually like ebay's new rules.
I don't get stuck when seller's hide defects or show only certain pictures to deceive. This isn't what you did at all as you were completely honest. Though as a seller, I want my buyer to be completely happy with their purchase. I accept returns no matter what.
I don't believe in the "as is" or "no returns" unless an item is viewed in person buy the buyer like at a live auction.
You did the right thing and though you are frustrated, good deeds come full circle!
