New Server Update: Feedback/Reputation System
There are a number of new features available on our forum as a result of the recent server upgrade. I'm still getting up to speed with all of them, but here's a little taste of what's new:
One of the new features is a Reputation system that allows users to give positive/negative feedback for all posts on the forum. You can do this simply by clicking the + or - on the right hand side of every post. Every time the + is clicked on your post, your reputation score gains a point, and a point is lost every time the - is clicked. You need to be logged in to use this feature.

Your Reputation score can be seen in your profile.
Also, for people who start a thread, there's a new "thanks" functionality which allows the thread starter to thank the most helpful response given in the thread. A "thanked" post receives +3 to the author's reputation score.

A thanked post takes on a light green color:

You'll also notice that the profiles have been updated and are more detailed now, so check that out. There are several other new features as well, some of which aren't really relevant to our forum's needs. There were a few small bugs when these updates were introduced, and almost all of them have been ironed out. Let me know if you have any questions and/or issues and I'll do my best to help out.

You can go back use this feature on old posts too. It wouldn't hurt for people to go back to the old threads and give positives to the really good threads out there. I'm in the process of going through and giving positives and thanks to everyone that has contributed to the virtual set area.

So then, a particularly popular post can earn multiple positive points for the issuer. And offsetting votes are incorporated in the overall tally.
But
Is there any way to quickly determine where the source(s) of your most positive postings are located?
The reason for this inquiry is my rating.
Specifically, ItsOnlyGil has a rating of 6 for 900+ posts, while
TheRiddler has a rating of about 80 for 200+ posts.
Maybe they really are different
Nah - nothing so dramatic as that.
The Riddler simply got a lot of credit for uploading, into our picture library, images of OJ cards which are owned by others.

Not that I know of, but that would come in handy. Maybe the host will include that in their next update.TheRiddler wrote:

Pretty sure that's what happened.TheRiddler wrote:The Riddler simply got a lot of credit for uploading, into our picture library, images of OJ cards which are owned by others.
By the way, I just noticed that received a negative vote for the first post in this thread?

Re: New Server Update: Feedback/Reputation System
I was practising with the features Ben. The negative vote is just collateral damage associated with giving me a new plaything.
But yes, getting to see all of the posts which have gotten + recognition (for reasons other than image uploading), could be quite interesting.

Just a reminder to newer members about our reputation system. Some members are using it, but it seems like many aren't aware of what it entails.
With regard to the "thanks" feature in particular; if a post becomes green, you know that means the topic starter has "thanked" that post, resulting in +3 reputation points.

Just another quick reminder re: the reputation system on FC.
Some people are using it, but many aren't. As is described in the initial post, you can reward members for quality posting on the forum by simply clicking the "+" next to their post. Not very often that we hand out negs here, but sometimes that comes in handy as well. I urge people to use this feature when applicable! thanks.
