Update on what I'm up too
Hello Guys
As you probally know or don't know, I put my Card collecting on hold while I'm concentrating on my other hobby of metal detecting. I just thought I would tell you about a find I made the otherday
I am hunting the back yard of an old house that was built in the 1890's and apparantly one of the owners was a Civil War Confederate Veteran. Because I dug a 1895 United Confederate Veterans Reunion badge then a couple days later this confederate snake belt buckle pops up from over a 100yrs in the ground. Seems these buckles originated in Britain and were sent over here during the war for Confederate troops. They had to run the blockade to get them here.
Anyway, Mine is missing the other part the snake connects too but a nice find none the less
It may not look like much to you guys but to CW relic hunters and collectors it's Ty Cobb
I included a tin type of a confederate soldier wearing a snake buckle.
Hope you don't mind it I update you when I make a good find
I was missing my friends over here
PS. I haven't cleaned it yet, leaving it the way I first found it for right now.

Re: Update on what I'm up too
great stuff. This is what the bull pen area is for. Keep us updated. I know I like seeing stuff like that and is why I watch the Antiques Roadshow. Also neat to see other collectibles

Hi Jerry. That's awesome. The metal detecting hobby fascinates me. I've never done it, but would love to give it a whirl.
Re: Update on what I'm up too
That is really cool Jerry. Thanks for the update. I hope you find more items like that! Like Tony, I'm fascinated by metal detecting, but haven't done it since I was a little kid (and that was with a really crappy detector).
Good luck to you buddy!

Thanks Guys, Atleast it gets me outdoors instead of sitting in front of this computer setting snipes on Baseball cards.
My obsessive collecting traits is carrying over to detectors, I have 7 now.

A fellow I know has this hobby. He has accumulated quite a collection of silver and other coins as well as bottles and related items. It is an enirely different world with much of the treasure in the history and research.

Hey Jay
I like to drive around in the country and look for old abandoned houses and old churches. I like to try and keep myself in old spots. I don't hunt for modern clad coins and jewelry like some people do. I'm looking for old coins and relics, thats what interest me the most.

I might have showed these before but heres my best and oldest silver coin finds to date. This picture doesn't include all the silver mercury, rosevelt dimes and washington quarters I have found. I sold most of them when silver got high.
I kept these
