Huggins & Scott Auction?
I was looking at the Zeenuts and T210 lot # 1244, but somehow got picked off first.
How did you guys do with your lots? ... I hope better than me.

Re: Huggins & Scott Auction?
I was shutout this auction. I buy from them sometimes but it has tobe something I really want because I get nailed with an extra 6% because I live in Maryland.
If an item hammers under 1200 I get a 23.5% bp. Too much for me to bid most of the time.

Wow!
What a nightmare if you live in Maryland! I thought 17.5% BP was a lot, I guess I can live with that.

Re: Huggins & Scott Auction?
Since were on the topic of Huggins & Scott I have a question. I was winner of two lots and show being the high bidder in those two auctions when you go back into them but haven't received any emails stating this up to this point. Is their format set up for the winners to only receive an email once they send out their invoices days later on the lots they've won?
I'm so used to receiving a ton of emails from an auction house and not to receive one at this point was kinda odd to me.
Tony A.

Since we're on the topic of Huggins & Scott, would you care to share with us what you won ... if not, that's OK too.
The community is always glad to see that some one in the community won it.

I won the lot of 5 Buchner Gold Coins (all graded 4 VGEX). Fairly strong prices on the "mixed groups" of cards, although the Cracker Jacks seemed to be a bit on the low side.

Now there's a set about the history of the game.
Some of the pictures will show you why they called it "The pitchers box."
Rhett, you gotta Luv that set. ... Any scans?

Here's my one win. King landed 2 of the Red Crofts, so 3 out of 4 by the board is great!

That wasn't only a good catch, that's what it's all about.
In my days, we didn't have comps, eBay, auction houses, or cell phones.
We flipped the cards up in the air, or traded for them, back in the early forties.
Let us know if you added to your collection by trading some of your extras.
Let's hear it for the Creedmoor Inmates of the community.
Luck to you.

I ended up snagging the large 55 card t209 group. Always kinda wanted to work on this set, it's just that the cards come up so infrequently. Hopefully I'll stick with it this time

Brian, now that's what I call a good looking haul, and pick up. ... Congratulations!
The set is a challenge, but you've got yourself a good start.
I started with two cards, and then the Creedmoor mind set took over.
Then again, I was born with a Creedmoor mind set, I shoulda known betta.
Thanks for sharing, I could look at Contentneas all day.
BTW, any idea who got the Zeenuts & T210 lot?
Joe

Great T209 haul Brian, you're certainly don't shy away from a challenge huh? Good luck with the set and please keep us up to date with your progress.
Huggins & Scott Auction?
Joe and Ben - two of my longtime collecting buddies....nice hearing from you both!
Thanks for the kind words, Joe, I know you've been working on t209s for a long time - email me sometime and let me know how the progress is coming along. Now you're after Zeenuts and t210s also? You're an even bigger glutton for punishment that I am! Let me know what you're looking for...maybe I have something that can help.
Ben - I've always wanted to start this set but this is just one of those issues that you need a "jump" on and fortunately I've got it. I have the BE Thompson and Presley/Pritchard (horizontal pose) already so perhaps having two of the more desireable cards out of the way will also help me along. I tend to get distracted though by newer projects that come along and Ben, you know my patience has always been in question. Hopefully, neither of those factors will come into play this time around.

Re: Huggins & Scott Auction?
Hello Brian, good to see you over here.
Like buddy Ben, I wish you luck with the set, and want to hear about your progress with it.
You are about to find out about yourself.
You're about to find out whether you're a collector, or investor. ... BTW, each approach, is not a crime.
Old time collectors, will agree that the T206 set, is the most popular set put together, because of the history of some of it's players.
However, the T209 set, is one of the regional sets made up of a handfull of players that made it to the bigs, and even less that made it for a cup of coffee.
The mayority, never got to taste the coffee.
Many never made it to the regional teams.
Most of us, at one time or another, would have loved that cup of coffee.
To me, those regional sets ... represent the history of baseball, and most of us.
As for my T209 set ... I've been stuck at 219 for a while ... but there's always tomorrow.
As to the Zeenuts, T210's, and glutton for punishment. ... I like my whips wet, with some salt on them.
Good to see you around ... don't be a stranger.
Joe

Don't forget, there is that Zach kid out there working on this set too. That is good that you have 2 of the top cards in the set out of the way.

Re: Huggins & Scott Auction?
Hello Jay,
I'm glad you brought up Zach.
A couple of years ago, we got to talk about the T209 set that he was just getting into.
I advised him on an approach to take, and due to the progress of my set, he wouldn't be getting much compitition from this geezer.
I restarted collecting cards when I was fifty, his collecting years are ahead of him, and I'm rooting for him. ... Keep us posted Zach.
Jay, stay well, and keep huntin.

Re: Huggins & Scott Auction?
Zach is a collecting stud. I had a pretty nice collection when I was in my early 20s, but nothing like what Zach has amassed. I was into type cards back then and he is working sets that I didn't even have type examples of. I did have my Firesides by then, so I got that on him

You guys are too kind ☺
Jay,
Thank you. I am very ardent (borderline obsessive) about this hobby, thus my success in acquiring what I have so far.
Joe,
T209 collecting is going pretty well. I’m at around 105 (?) different, I’ll have to go pull out my binder and do a headcount. I just picked up a few real ruffians, but the lot contained some tough cards so I’m excited. Would you mind emailing me (mzm55@mac.com)? I have lost your email and have a few questions when you have the time. How is your T210 set coming along?
I actually just sold a duplicate to Brian and we’ve been corresponding about the set recently. Us T209 guys are an eccentric bunch, we’ve got to stick together ☺

Re: Huggins & Scott Auction?
Hello Zach,
Glad you chimed in.
Eccentric, is close.
There are times that I find myself almost bordering on the super natural.
Before I forget, my e-mail address is (jpe1255426@aol.com)
Brian has a nice start into the set, and you're doing very well with yours.
There are a couple of other Contentnea captives that I know, that are getting deeper into the set.
I've been at 219 for a little while now. ... Are you calling me a masochist, just because I like my whips wet, with a little salt on them?
As for the T210 set, I'm at 334. ... a longggg way to go.
I have dupes to trade.
I've traded cards with collectors, and they've gone by my verbal descriptions.
That's nice, but I don't think it's fair.
I'm a computer illiterate, I type with one finger of each hand.
I own an EPSON Stylus CX6600, a 3 in 1.
I kept it in the box for almost a year, before I mastered the printing part of it.
Everyone else in Cyberland, is able to translate the scanner booklet, but as for me, I need ... a Rosetta stone ... It's all Greek to me.
Please:
Is there anyone on this forum, that is familiar with the Epson CX6600, and walk me through the scanning proceedure?
When I grow up, I want to be just like all you guys with the great scans.
Thank you! ... Gracias!
Joe
