Now that it is over, did anybody else here see this Ruth & Cobb Portuguese card? Looks like Leon snagged it at the end. As expected the price flew at the end.

Nice card. I have 4-5 of that issue and have seen three others. The issue has been reported to SCD a couple times, but have never made it into the price guide. They seem to parallel the Tabacalera issue, but without the color tenting (and the different back, of course.)

In what year did Angola issue this set?

I saw it but it isn't up my alley and correctly figured that leon would get it so I didn't worry about it. Neat card though.

Made a spirited run at this, but ended up as an underbidder on this bad boy. Any thoughts as to whether or not these players are actually from the famous Lowells of Boston or just a Lowell, MA town team?

If they did play for the famous Lowell team, rest assured that there would have been a few SABR members bidding on the piece. When it comes to 19c cabinets with "unknown" players on them, members of SABRs 19c committee have a pretty good picture base of all the players and would be checking that right away.
