John Joseph O'Connell was a National League hater,

and in 1891 he gave them a thorough thrashing as a part time utility man for the Baltimore Orioles. So good, in fact, that he took the next eleven years off before coming back to put them back in their place from his position as part time 1B/2Bman with the Detroit Tigers. His career line looks like this:

That would require a player to have a ten year gap in his career. The AA closed down in 1891, and the AL opened up in 1901. Nobody else probably did this, other than this one guy.
