Cool, that one is looking more realistic to me than this year's. Hop on the bus! Anybody got a floor to sleep on?

good for east coasters...west coast screwed again. it's really been a regional show for awhile now.

Very true. I'd love to see it in SF again just so I'd have an excuse to go back there.

Ditto what Quan said. Absolutely no love for west coasters. Cost's an arm and a leg to attend anymore.

Re: 2012 National set for Baltimore
Just a question or two. How much cheaper is the flight to Chicago or Cleveland than Baltimore, and how much cheaper is the room and board?
I think I spent about $75 more for my plane ticket to Baltimore (from Phoenix) than I did for Cleveland, and the room and food were the same price, but the quality of the experience was extremely superior in Maryland. Other than So-Cal, where it hasn't enjoyed recent success, where do you think the National could realistically be held out West and how much would you save?
Like Jay, I would go to SF in a heartbeat, and would probably save $150 in air fare vs. Baltimore, but everything else would be the same, for the most part. Is a couple of hundred bucks enough of a turn off?

Re: 2012 National set for Baltimore
last one i attended was anaheim (about 15 minutes away). i roughly stayed for about a couple hours in 2 days combined. i felt it was a big waste of time (even being 15 minutes away) and if i had to pay for airfare and hotel etc i would've been pissed.
tbh the only locations i would for sure go right now would be san fran, arizona, or salt lake city...places closer to the west coast (would love salt lake as i've never been). i hate long flights and layovers, and on top of that the extra cost is not worth it. i did atlantic city and chicago when i was a wide-eyed prewar collector...had awesome time with some great collectors that i still consider friends today but i wouldn't do it in this stage of my life/collecting phase.

Ha,Ha...you can never make everyone happy. Still, i wish it were in NY or Boston. I think one year in the past it was even in CT. Oh well, since 12/21/12 will be end of world, i should attend at least one.

Has St. Louis ever been considered? Can't get any more centrally located than that.

Last National in St. Louis was 1995. Not sure if there has been more than one there.

Maybe a true old timer like Mark MAcrae can chime in tell us. I'm pretty sure there has been at least one other National in St Louis. It was a big hotbed for the hobby in the 70s and early 80s.
