Questions regarding Coupon (T213-2)
Oldcardboard lists 188 known examples from this set.
When was the last addition to the checklist?
Is it reasonable to assume that there could be a T213-2 subject for every T206 subject?
Is it possible there are that many examples unknown in the mainstream hobby or I'm giving the set more credit than it deserves?

Re: Questions regarding Coupon (T213-2)
I've collected these in the past and I've been picking up examples here or there over the past few months. I'm just curious to know if any info on this set has changed in recent years?

I'm no expert, Adam. But I doubt all the T206 subjects are covered. My complete Red Sox team in T206 is 12 cards (10 different subjects)...my T212-2 Red Sox team I think has only 2 or 3 cards.

Re: Questions regarding Coupon (T213-2)
There is most definitely not a 1-1 player ratio amongst these sets. No shaugnessy in t213 for example...there are maybe 1/2 the subjects in t213 compared to t206.

I may have misunderstood u...r u asking if there is a corresponding t206 for every t213? I read the opposite question?

Re: Questions regarding Coupon (T213-2)
I'm sorry, I actually meant was there potentialy a T213-2 for every T206. But apparently if there is they haven't yet been discovered or were not produced. So 188 is about as far as T213-2 gets for now.

I wonder how many T213-2's are confirmed to exist, but have yet to be catalogued?

My assumption would be that the checklist for t213-2 is complete as I know a few people have completed it. It is very difficult with all of the variations for sure!

Re: Questions regarding Coupon (T213-2)
When Lew Lipset wrote volume 3 of his Encyclopedia 27 years ago, he identified 187 cards for the T213-2 set. Now there are 188, so one was added--I forget who. It seems unlikely that there are many more out there. BTW, there are only 97 or 98 different players in the set--the rest are different poses or team/caption changes.
Since these were issued over 1914-1916, several of the T206 players were no longer playing (Cy Young) and/or were dead (Addie Joss), so there would be no reason to try and include them. I always thought one or more of the T206 gurus would try and match up the T213s with the various series of T206 in efforts to re-construct sheets-- how many T213-2s appear in the 150 series only, for example-- but I do not believe that study has been undertaken.

Re: Questions regarding Coupon (T213-2)
To answer the original question, I don't think that there is a corresponding T-213-2 for every T-206 subject or pose. There are 188 on the checklist, but three cards have not been confirmed to exist in the last 25 years. I started collecting them in the early 80's and have 185 different . The missing cards were not in the Fritsch, Barker,McPherson or Belcher collections, and none of those collectors had a copy of the missing 3 cards either. Since there are numerous caption variations, its always possible that a checklisting error occurred decades back, despite the fact that the early Louisiana specialists were meticulous at noting differences. I've left a slot in my album for each of the three cards, if they ever turn up. Collectors will have enough of a challenge getting to the 150 different mark, and we can only speculate how many Coupons were lost to tragedies like Katrina in the past. I think the checklists are pretty close to complete on all three types of Coupons. I believe the last addition to the checklist was a second example of Demmitt, Chicago

This may be the toughest board I've ever signed up for. If I don't lose my pw I will post again. Is T213-2 complete at 185? Heritage recently had the Demmitt NY on Jersey, so I know that card is in the checklist. Is it complete at 185?

obaks1912 is a very advanced, long time collector (goes back to the 70s) that I trust. If he says the list the list is 185 I would take his word for it until the 3 unverified cards are proven to exist.

When Mark Macrae speaks on cards, I definitely listen. T213 is such a cool set. Thanks for all the info guys.
