1990 Topps Frank Thomas NNOF PSA 9
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the forum. This is a really cool site. I've started collecting back in the late 80s before all the grading system. Now I've recently begun to collect again. With the recent Dmitri Young Auction of 1990 Topps Frank Thomas NNOF PSA 10 going for $24k, can someone help me find the value of this card but in PSA 9? I bought this about 10 years ago and forgot about it.
Many thanks for your time!
Edward

Hey, welcome to the site. I think a PSA 9 would go for about 4k, but I collect cards 100 years older than the Thomas, so I don't really have a clue!

cool card, u got a scan? the 8 below went over 2k last month. i love late 80's early 90's cards, saved up alot of quarters for those packs.

Wow, yeah, great card. Looks to be worth five thousand bucks if the 8 went for over 2k. I've never encountered anyone who has actually owned one. That is really cool. Frank Thomas was a monster; he put up some epic seasons. That's the ultimate 90's card right there.

if ur thinking of putting it on ebay, i'd spend the $20-$30 (shipping included) getting that thing reholdered with the new psa font. some high end collectors out there are prejudiced against the old flip, might cost you a few hundos.
i love 1990 frank thomas cards...topps, score, leaf. too bad there was no UD

i've been out of collecting for so long. what's the difference between the old and new holders? what makes the new ones so much better?

also, how do you forget about a 4-5k card? you musta bought it for like $20. 10 years ago i bought vlad guerrero and shawn green psa 10s, those are forgettable!
the (false?) view is that psa was easier in the earlier days than now. i think your flip dates back 12+ years.

yea, i moved around a lot in the last 10 years and thomas nnof wasn't worth as much as it is now. i really only have 2 valuable cards.
Anyone know how much this one is worth?

Welcome to the board. Very nice Babe Ruth w512. Here's a SGC 84 NM listed on ebay for 5K . There is another PSA 9 w512 being sold with a w515-1 for 13K. IMO both are overpriced but you could probably fetch 4-6K pretty comfortably. Not the most sought after Ruth, but at that grade it would definitely draw some interest. Yours is the highest graded w512, 2 examples of this card at Mint 9, according to PSA registry. Thank you for sharing.

according to vcp there is at least a sgc 9, which sold for $2333 via a bin in early '11. since strip cards are handcut, a high grade is not very important imo. if the market is hot (wouldn't know) should sell.

Good points Quan. $2,333 is an excellent price for that card IMO. Strip cards are very market sensitive, and the fact that they are handcut and sometimes assigned numerical grades is always up for debate. Touchy subject.
