Thoughts and opinions on new Std Catalog of Vintage BB cards
I just received my copy of the latest...abridged version of the Standard Catalog...and my only observation thus far is that I like the new, smaller size....it's much easier to handle!
I question why 1980 was chosen as the cutoff...as I would have chosen 1973.
Thoughts? Opinions?

I notice that E94's used to be alphabetical under C...for George Close...but are now in the G section...for George...hmmmn?
There definitely seem to be typos...as in the 1911 Baltimore Newsboys Series(blue e94's)...the cobb is valued at 75k nrmt...the wagner at 55k...yet the set is only worth 85K.

From the "bad investment" files...my 1977 Burger King Lou Pinella short print I coveted as a child...later acquired as an adult...is worth exacty the same now...as it was in 1977!!!!!!!

In the "outdated" price file...Piedmont art stamps are listed as $30 in vg condition...good luck finding them in that condition...let alone at anywhere near that price!

I see the youth's companion stamp...previously thought to be babe ruth...now known to be rube marquard has been removed from the guide.

I would assume 1980 is the cutoff since 1981 is when Fleer and Donruss were allowed back into the market. Moving it back to 1973 wouldn't really make much of a dent in the size of the publication, so I don't really have a problem with 1980 being the cutoff. It's a good, logical place to break things up.
