T206 Cards - "Tough" Ranking
Within the past two months, my 9-year old son and I have caught the "fever" of T206 collecting and I am excited about joining this board with all so many experts and look forward to learning from all of you. I have tried to find this question on this site (and in the Google universe) and cannot seem to find a ready answer:
Beyond the top 4 in "toughness"(Wagner, Plank, Magie, Doyle), has anyone put together a ranking of the Top 50 or even Top 100 in some semblance of order of the entire T206 set without regard to the backs? Since many Southern Leaguers would figure into that ranking (I think), is there a separate ranking of them also? I know the condition is an absolutely important parameter, so can we assume that we are targeting cards in the PSA 3 grading range for this exercise?
Another question for the experts here: My T206 purchases have come mainly from Ebay, and I have signed up for Spectrum and know about REA (don't know if my wallet can handle it), but if there are other places to point us to for reasonable prices, please let me know.
Thank you again and I look forward to your input!
Michael

Yes - you should definitely print "Inside T206" by Scot A. Reader. It is available as a free PDF download from the Old Cardboard website. A fantastic resource! I think this link will take you to it:

Actually, I just noticed this Centennial Edition of "Inside T206" is quite different from the earlier edition that I have. In the earlier edition, Scot made a listing that is exactly what you asked about - a "toughness" list based in part on grading company pop report data. I took a quick skim through this Centennial Edition and I don't see it in there...

Bill Browns Super set spreadsheet (found on t206.org) has a column called Scot Readers top 150. I've assumed that is the same ranking mentioned by Blair, but I've never seen the earlier version of Scot's document.

It seems that the first column may hold the answer, but the rest of the spreadsheet is a statistical wonder. Great stuff and thanks for the guidance!

That's just the tip of the statistical iceberg that is t206. Have fun! I've been at it almost 2 years now!
