Ebay account taken over....
Well...it turns out my account was suspended because someone tried to access it and may have got in. But, Ebay caught it and shut down my account. I hooked up to live chat and the person got it back. I changed my password. I still don't know how they would have got in, my password was long and had letters and numbers in it. Oh well...i will start changing my password more often.

Re: Ebay account taken over....
These @$$hol*s are very slick.
I was selling a car on ebay motors, and yesterday got an email about it. The guy said he was interested in our car and would give us $6500 and his car as a trade. This guy had 100% positive feedback and over 300 feedback points, he was replying through ebay legitimately, and lived within the U.S. He provided us with a link to look at his car to see pics and details. The link worked by either clicking it, or by cutting and pasting and putting it into a new window. Well when we opened it it brought us to ebay and asked us to sign in using our user name and password. The only reason I thought this was fishy was that Firefox saves the user name and password automatically and this was asking me to retype everything. I sent an email back to the guy telling him to go F--- himself.

Re: Ebay account taken over....
I fell for the second-chance scam on a Croft's Wagner, when that scam first started. I filed a complaint with eBay, the FBI and the USPS. NOTHING was ever done and I was out $1200 in Money Orders. Ever since then, if I get any correspondence about something on eBay, I go to MY EBAY and try to take care of things from there. I NEVER open any e-mails related to eBay any longer.

Re: Ebay account taken over....
The email notice that I got yesterday, was directly from ebay. It was on "My Ebay" question about item. When the guy wanted me to check out his car, it took me to another ebay sign in page. Thought it was kind of weird that my user name was not in the box. They came very close to getting me this way. They are getting really sly. What goes around comes around for these guys though.

You are right Eric - those guys seem to stay one step ahead. By the time honest people find out about a certain scam, they are working on another.
I am so paranoid of the scam artists that I ONLY buy in a legit auction on eBay any longer. Any private deals I do are with people I know and trust - like the great board members we have here! At least if something happens on eBay, you have a little bit of coverage and feedback options. Paypal use to be great for buyers as well. However, I have quit dealing with them after my latest debacle with PayPal.
