Guess the grade
I finally got a few of my ungraded T216's over to SGC. With them I also brought some PSA graded T216's to cross over. I got the results last night and figured it would be fun to play "Guess the grade". I'll do a few at a time, starting with the ungraded cards.
T216 Knight (Kotton type 3). Could this card even qualify for a holder?
T216 Demmitt (Kotton type 1)
T216 Speaker (Kotton type 2)
Results and additional cards to follow..................stay tuned!

I'll play and go with:
SGC A for the Knight
SGC 20 for the Demmitt
SGC 10 for the Speaker
SGC A for the Knight
SGC 20 for the Demmitt
SGC 10 for the Speaker

SGC 20 for the Speaker

haha.......good one Quan.
If I didn't need all of these, I'd offer the Knight up. Hey you get the enjoyment of looking at them. Isn't that good enough?

That is my best guess too. The fatal flaw for the Demmitt is the paper loss, I think (otherwise I might have gone up a grade or two).

Re: Guess the grade
Paper loss doesn't automatically doom a card to a 10. I have seen 20s and even 30s with paper loss. With as small as that paper loss is on the back, I'm betting that wasn't enough to downgrade it all the way to a 10.

Re: Guess the grade
interesting there's a divide on the demmitt and speaker. i'll be safe and say the combined grades of the 3 cards < 40.

Re: Guess the grade
Quan and Jamie are correct.
Knight = A (I was happy about it because I thought it was too damaged to even holder with an AUT.)
Demmitt = SGC 20
Speaker = SGC 20

Re: Guess the grade
Evers should receive a grade of less than or equal to an SGC 96. I'm pretty I'm correct on this one, too. Do we win a free Coke or something for being correct, like in summer camp?

If I can ever make it out to one of the Nationals, I'll bring you a Coke.
Yeah, I guess I realize it's kind of pointless to do it with crossovers. So I guess I'm done.
The rest of my PSA's crossed over to equivalent SGC grades.
This Jennings PSA 4.5 turned out to be an SGC 50. Was hoping for a 60, but I can't complain at all with the results.

Re: Guess the grade
Yeah, total gimmick by PSA to do half grades on PSA 1-5. Like what makes a PSA 1.5 not a 1 or a 2
Nice cards no matter what sleeve they are in.

Thanks Jamie. I was told that it received a 50 and not a 60 because of the off centering of the Kotton back. Had it been dead center, I would have achieved my 60.....possibly higher. But the front is dead center. Looks awesome because you see a lot of these that are slightly off.

Re: Guess the grade
I was thinking the same thing as Quan-many of the crofts are off center.
If it really matters Eric get a few cards that are close in grade and get them to review them at the same time-I did that to a couple of my real tough cards where a grade makes hundreds if not thousands difference.
When they look at several cards at the same time that are real close in grade sometime you can get that bump.
I once got 16 Uzits graded at once that were g to vg and 3 got vg-ex because they were just slightly better than the group and I am sure if these were graded separately they would have got the vg grade even though they are slightly better than vg.

Re: Guess the grade
yea eric, simple enough....just go find 10-12 raw t216s VGEX/EX and you're all set
also i like how jim is old-school but he's dishing out grading advice. shows he gets it and not too cool for school toward the new kids.

Yup, same thing happens to me every time I submit 16-20 Drums.

Thanks Jim....great advice. But as Quan pointed out getting a few cards in that same range is pretty tough. Most of the T216's I have are pretty rough. I may have 3 total of my 41 in the SGC 50 range. Jennings, Gibson and Tinker. I just think it's too few to have them review and adjust the grade on the Jennings.

Re: Guess the grade
eric u may be doomed as the graders might remember that card if you try to resubmit...otherwise i'd suggest you mix it in with other ts &es. but you don't collect anything else anyways.

Re: Guess the grade
E
the most drums I ever got graded at the same time was 5-that is what happens when you are a rare back hoarder.
some collector of another forum called me that when I would not sell him all the tough backs in grade 4 or better-rare back hoarder...
believe it or not most of my collection is raw.
you guys are tough on me but I can take it...

and when you don't sell them to me at 35% market value i will also call you selfish, greedy, and an investor...you probably got them back in the 80's for $3 each anyways.
