19th century style baseball game
On the 4th, Fort Pulaski near Savannah is staging a baseball game using rules from the civil war era. The public is invited to watch or play:

This sounds like great fun!
The rules sound like Knickerbocker Rules.
There is also the New York Game in which up to 15 players per team had been used, and there were no foul balls (you could hit it backwards, over the catcher's head, if you wanted; or anywhere else)
There is also the Massachusetts Game which allowed similar hitting (no foul balls), overhand pitching, you could get a runner out by hitting him with the ball - but he could run anywhere to avoid you (except he could not run in front of the bases).
And I bet that there are lots of rules that I am not aware of yet in all of these games.
But Knickerbocker Rule No. 10 is interesting:
"10TH. A ball knocked out of the field, or outside the range of the first and third base, is foul."
They established the concept of a foul ball, but they included (HRs) balls hit over the fence as foul.

They need to bring back that rule.
