Hand-Painted 19th Century Style Card?
I thought this auction was kind of interesting. One of those "ebay live" deals that I'm not terribly fond of. Too bad the seller didn't describe the card in any helpful way other than Hand-painted baseball card, c.1880. 6"x4.25.
Nice artwork and a cool design too. It certainly has the look & feel of the era.
I wonder if it was in fact painted in the 19th century

Is there no home plate, or is the batter standing on it?
The catcher's mask and glove look period, but I'm no expert.
The bat doesn't look good, but ItsOnlyGil, plus it is a painting, not necessarilly done by a historian. Maybe by a painter.
A fantastic item, none-the-less!
My guess = it is real.
But I'm an optometrist with no vision.
