1912 Boston Garter

The first of three series of Boston Garters, ranging from 1912-14. The cards were inserted one per box of twelve Boston Garter sock garters. The 1912 Garter set consists of 16 cards and is extremely scarce and uniquely designed. 1912 Boston Garters are highly sought out by type collectors and very expensive in the rare occasion that one does show up for sale.

Here's the Collins/Chase version of the above. First time I've seen what the 1912 BG Collins looks like, nice yellow background. Sold for over 30k in a 2005 Mile High Auction:

And here's a scan of the 1912 BG Matty, which sold in the 2004 REA auction for $31,625. Amazing card for a number of reasons!

I've seen the Bescher before, but that's the first time I've seen a Lajoie. WOW

See the "Pad Boston Garter" line at Lajoie's knees? That's not on any of the other cards in the set, at least the ones that I've seen..

Rucker, Walsh and Clarke all have the Cord Boston Garter advertised on their cards, while the remaining players have the Pad variety sponsored.
