Yikes - did this seller do the unthinkable?
There was an interesting group of 10 Oval Photos listed on ebay last week including McGraw, Burkett, and several other well known players. In the description, the seller states that they actually detached these photos from a cabinet backing in order to sell them individually.
If that's the case, well...this seller just threw away thousands of dollars. Ouch. What was he/she thinking?
Is anyone familiar with what this cabinet, and what it might have looked like intact?
This photo was one of ten c.1900 St. Louis baseball players original portrait photos mounted to a cardboard backing marked Griffith Studios, Stanberry, Mo. I gently detached them and am selling all ten separately. I believe the remaining nine include HOFers Bobby Wallace and Jesse Burkett as well as star players Lave Cross and Mike Donlin. Photo measures approx. 2 1/2"x 3 1/2" and has glue remnants on back.

yawie must be breaking stuff in his house. too bad the seller didn't list the cabinet first, he would've gotten a bunch of lowball offers and that should clue him in that he got something valuable. seems like he sells alot of sports-related stuff, he should know better.
rhys just said on the other board these cards might not be what the seller claims they are...

Heh heh. Good thing this guy isn't here in the Loo. I'd probably go kick his ass just on principle. Or at least taunt him for being so dumb.

"My Goodness". It hurts to even think about what was done to this cabinet.
Value aside, chances are it can never be replaced. That's what's troubling
when you hear stories such as this.

The deed having been done, one outstanding question is: what is the value of a 1900 McGraw cutout/soak off/pry apart in a Cardinals uniform?
