Which is your favorite 1933 Goudey Ruth?
Re: Which is your favorite 1933 Goudey Ruth?
I like the Sport King Ruth......that's a '33 Goudey isn't it?

Not to sound like a wise-ass, but actually, no. The Sport Kings set was printed in 1934, so it is not truly a 1933 product. It became clear after Mile High (I think, they don't make it easy to search their old auctions online) auctioned off a complete set of Sport Kings that were sent to the U.S. Copyright office along with the Copyright registration cards - similar to the ones auctioned off by REA in 2006 for the 1933 and 1934 Goudey sets. For the Sport Kings set, all the dated information was 1934, and in months between the last printing of 1933 Goudey and the 1934 Goudey sets.

I'm kinda down with Jay and Mark on not liking any of them either. If I had to choose though would probably go with card #181, the green background version. I prefer that pose over the others.

None of the above? Wow, tough crowd. I thought everyone liked Goudey Ruths
In my childhood I always dreamed of owning one. I remember seeing #144 in a card book and had an instant desire for that one, but since then I've taken more of a liking to #181. It depicts Ruth's expressive face very accurately and has an appealing overall look to me.

Ben, I agree, I thought everybody likes Goudey Ruths. BTW, what's up with the colour on the yellow Ruth, it looks like a reprint.
King, I knew that, hence my smiley......but I really do like the SK Ruth the best.

E - It could very well be a reprint. I wasn't having any luck finding four same sized Goudey Ruth scans, so I pulled these ones off a Google image search.

#144 - gorgeous action shot, classic card.

I always thought the pose on #181 was a little wierd. If all things were equal (ie. it wasn't a DP) I would like #144 the most (and it isn't even close). I can see why people like the others, as they have more facial detail, but give me the Babe in action.

Even though it is the cheapest, I have always liked the 144 in action pose.

Is it really the cheapest? That's good news to me, as I'd still like to pick one up for my collection.

For some reason I like #144 the best .....
Hey I'll take any chance I get at showing off what's coming my way

Yes, because it was double-printed. The double-print was in the place of the missing #106 Lajoie card.

If we were to assume this poll is accurate and the green Ruth is in fact the most popular of the four cards you’d think the green Ruth would command the highest price. We all know the Yellow Ruth sells for the most money. Is there a reason for this
Which Goudey Ruth do you consider the most scarce? I’ll start with yellow being the rarest…
#53 Yellow
#149 Red
#181 Green
#144 Action shot

Until King pointed out that #144 was double printed, I always assumed all 4 were of approximately equal scarcity. Clearly I was mistaken.
I'd be interested in hearing what others think about your question, Brad.
Meanwhile, I've still got my eyes peeled for a decent collector grade Goudey Ruth that doesn't break the bank.
