Re: July 2012 Pickups
WOW! Nice Old Judge Gleason, and the photo of the ballgame at Guantanamo is exceptional.
Looks like the game took place between the crews of the USS Jupiter & the USS Wyoming some time between January 10 & April 9, 1916 according to these sites below....

Great Gleason, sweet Three fingers, you can see the stub pretty clearly.

Re: July 2012 Pickups
I, respectfully, say those are more than commons. Nice pick up. The Sleepy Burns is great and his dealings are well known, but the card I like is the Hunky Shaw.
Hunky Shaw, here is a truly mentally unbalanced individual. Just look at those eyes. After a frustratingly short (one at bat) major league career he was bounced from league to league until he ended up in Edmonton, Canada in 1920. Where he assaulted and nearly killed an umpire between games of a doubleheader.

"After his deportation at that countries' subsequent refusal to accept him.." (Slapshot) he ended up in Yakima, Washington where he played third base and managed the local nine. He, again, exploded in 1927 in a game versus Toppenish when he began to strangle an umpire during play. "After the police subdued Shaw he cooled down in the city's bastille" (Cle Elum Miner/Echo). He continued to manage a local Yakima semi-pro team until the mid-30's.
Armbruster I know nothing about

Re: July 2012 Pickups
Wow! Thanks for the info. Yeah, I knew about Burns (and was glad to be the winner on that one, since it's a pretty sharp 2.5), but I had no idea Shaw was such a wack-job. Fascinating.
Armbruster's card says "Herman," but he's on baseball-reference as Harry G. Armbruster, who played one year ('06) in the Majors for the Athletics. He spent nine seasons in the Minors, hitting .292. Later became a machinist. Definitely not as interesting as the other two.

Love the Brown Cutlery. I think that's the first time I've seen a good shot of him actually holding the ball.

Wow! That Kelly is awfully sharp for a 1. Nice.

Re: July 2012 Pickups
Nice bunch of T206's
I use to have the fever, had to have something coming on a regular basis.
But now, Old Age and retirement has slowed things down not to mention less disposable Income.
Keep'm coming

That's a cool Cicotte, not sure I have seen it before. Not many cool looking cards in the T207 set.
Pete, nice pick up on the tough issues.
