Re: June 2012 Baseball Pickups
sample of what i've been up to the last couple months. plenty more of these, i got a dozen cards at psa/dna. trying to put together some topps signed cards 50s-90s. nothing rare or eye-catching but it's a nice way to chill and be competitive in my own way.

Great looking w516-1 Tris Speaker Blair. Not many of that issue of that quality. Did PSA explain why it did not get a numerical grade?

Re: June 2012 Baseball Pickups
I think both SGC and PSA have stopped giving numerical grades to strip cards.

Thanks - I thought it looked above average too! I got it off eBay, so I don't know the PSA rationale. Most of the dotted line shows on both sides. That was enough for me to like it.

Re: June 2012 Baseball Pickups
I don't want to derail the thread, but since there's been talk of W516s and numerical grading I thought I'd post my Alexander for comparison.

Edited to add...
Here's a Speaker graded SGC 50. Looks about the same as Blair's to me.

I think it's worth cracking and submitting to SGC. I really hope they haven't by rule stopped assigning numerical grades to strip cards. I've done well with a few of them at SGC.

Love that Dave Brain. Really nice color and definition for a 2.5.

I went into Legendary wanting the wagner for my set even though it's not very nice...ended up with the dietsche lot too...and I am impressed! These postcards have such nice deep, matte, rich images and the stock is so nice and thick!!!! I've always wanted the tough cobb fielding pose...and to me this card is a 10...on the bo derek scale!!!! I will definitely own the cobb when honus is long gone!!!!!

That Cobb's incredible. Hope you don't mind, I just lifted the image to be my computer desktop! I'll probably switch back to Kristen Chenoweth eventually, but for now it's nice to have a good Cobb pose.
Congrats!

I told myself over and over that I'd resist this set, but it didn't work. Tonight, I gave in. It was like poison ivy, and finally I just had to scratch it. It was ill advised, but it felt really good.
Damn this hobby!

It's a great set to work on right now. No one seems to want these cards except the high numbers.

It looks like Cobb stepped on some guys life raft with his spikes. Leave it to Cobb to ruin a guys rafting experience..
