I think it's awesome that his reason to sell to help his grandkids pay for college. That's admirable for sure.

What a great piece of history too. It reminded me of the Merkle Ball in REA a few years ago.

The jersey is far likely to be a better investment than the college degrees. There aren't even any jobs for those kids once they graduate, so what's the point?

Yes, job prospects are slim, but a college education is far more valuable than this jersey, any ball or anything else baseball related.

Soon we may have people buying widgets for $2 on one side of the mountains and transporting it to the other side to sell it for $1. They ask each other, "Why are we losing money?". Finally the lightning strikes and one says "I got it! What we need is a bigger truck." Oh wait, these people are already in office. Uh-oh...

Oh well, whatever, nevermind.... mallet
