REA Pick-ups
Hi All,
Thought the REA pick-ups deserved its own thread since it's the event of the year. I got outbid on the Whitney with Dog at 3am and was fast asleep by then. But did anyone else have more success than I? Would love to see your pick-ups...

With the Pete Memorial "I Should Have Been Drunk" bid Mr He Hate Football won the 1935 National Chicle Rockne.

Re: REA Pick-ups
I really wanted the Perez postcard artwork of Blyleven. With Gwynn, Henderson and other top tier HOFers sitting under $1k I bailed on Blyleven at $1500. Would have loved to have it for my Twins wall. Was going to mat it with a photo I got Blyleven to sign back in 1971.
As much as I dislike football I have always love the '35 National Chicle set. Besides, you can't go wrong with an iconic card and what I think is one of the top 10 cards for football card collectors.
The card also moves in to the #6 slot in my gang of 10. Meaning I have 4 baseball cards I will sell before it's Mr Rockne's turns to move on.

Congratulations Jay, awesome Rockne! "Win one for the Gipper" indeed. Must say I am surprised by the football pickup but completely understand this one.

Re: REA Pick-ups
I lost out on 2 lots. One just before I went to bed. The other one went for what I wanted my high end to be but couldn't figure out how to get the bid. I wanted the $600 bid but my next bid would have been $500 and the auto bid started at $700 (which I felt was too much). Sure enough it went for the $600.
I find it curios that the increments are so high even for amounts under $1000. I would have serious thought about $650 but the $700 just seemed too much. I think Rob could work on changing the bid increments. Heck, most of the time they are just starter bids and so you might get more people involved if they get starting bids in.

Re: REA Pick-ups
same story as everyone here i guess...
i couldn't put in another bid for either n300 delahanty...someone outbid me on the nice one at 2750 and i couldn't go to 2750 for the ugly one...should've put 2.5k bids on both i guess. the other was the e104 plank i debated for half an hour putting in another bid but thankfully the clock ran out.

Thanks fellas! The writeup got me buzzing about this one too - you could tell the folks at REA were really keen on this card. I'm really happy to have scored it!

RE:
Nicely done Blair. That card has great eye appeal.
I struck out with REA again so that makes me 0 for 3 in their auctions.
It was nice to talk to you guys in the chat for a quick minute. I'm sorry about the Whitney Jamie; OJs with strong images are still carrying a substantial premium apparently.
I was after this, but the lower border made me a little suspicious. Solid price for the winning bidder I thought:
Buck Weaver
I thought this had tremendous eye appeal, but I bailed ultimately because of how common the card is:
Ty Cobb
In my limited experience, it seems a lot of rare/difficult cards have been turning up lately. Oh well, on to Legendary...
