1935 American League autographed scroll..over 120 signatures
Hello everyone.
I'm new here. I'm ashamed to say I didn't know about this forum until today when someone from here asked me to post pictures of this scroll I have. I hope you guys don't mind that I was invited to share this piece.
The story goes that Miss Flora Grove loved baseball. She loved it so much that she talked a Cleveland Indians player into taking this 3-foot long scroll around the league with him in order to get members from each American League team to sign it, and he did.
This scroll contains over 120 signatures of ball players and managers from the 1935 season. The Detroit Tigers were World Champions that year, and they signed this before they won. It also contains every starting member of the American League All-Star team from that year.
Some signatures include Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Walter Johnson, Connie Mack, and over 120 others...several being HOFers.
Please feel free to make comments and let me know what you think.
Thanks and take care,
Matt

I asked this guy to post this over here for you guys to see. Thanks Wheeler
Is there even really any way to judge what something like this would be worth?

Yes, put it in an auction.

That is really cool. The story behind it is great, the newspaper clipping really adds to the provenance.
As far as a value, it is such a unique item that it would be tough to get a number put on it. About the only way your going to find out is putting it in a major auction.

Cool item, thanks for posting.
Major auction house is the only way to go on something like that.

Thank you everyone. I have no intention of selling it. I would hate to see this piece fall victim to a ruthless card manufacturer that might cut it up to insert the pieces into cut autograph cards. For now, it's safe and intact. Perhaps one day it will find its way to the HOF or another appropriate museum. I can't help but think it's museum worthy.

Can someone copy the pics and repost them? I can't even see them on IE. Not sure why but this has happened before with some images here.

I could email you the pictures if you like. I'm not sure how else to post them so you can see them. They show up for me. Sorry about that.

Okay, all sent.
There were 3 total emails that contained either 2 or 3 pictures each. Let me know that you received them. I wasn't sure how much space your inbox allowed, so I broke the pictures up into 3 emails.

Welcome to the board!
Are you, by chance, the guy who is big into modern SportKings?

Yes, that's me. I'm the one that would have loved to have purchased those Presidential Cuts from you.
Thank you for the welcome to the board.

I thought your name was familiar. Did you ever land any of the other presidents from that series in addition to the Kennedy?
BTW, that scroll is a pretty incredible piece! Congratulations on landing it!

Thank you. I've had it for a while now. It's just one of those things I don't think I'll ever be able to part with.
Between what you sold Brian, and what I have, we'd be hard pressed to see another Presidential Cut from Series A surface.
