1914 Pritchard Stamps

Post by rholmes on Sat Jul 17, 2010 12:02 am

Anyone know much about 1914 Pritchard Stamps or have other examples to post? I know they're fairly obscure, but I've always kinda liked them and have been outbid on few I've seen on ebay. The Burns I'm posting isn't mine...

Can't say I know much about the Pritchards either, other than the fact that they're quite tough to find, and picture Giants/Yankees exclusively. Never owned one. Can't even find a checklist for them. From what we know of other vintage baseball stamps like the t330-2 Piedmont Art Stamps and the T332 Helmars, they are extremely condition sensitive. The Burns you posted appears to be in great shape. Did it sell recently?

The Burns sold on ebay 5-6 years ago. It ended at $60-70 if I remember correctly, and I was the underbidder. Quite the bummer at the time. I haven't seen another Pritchard's since...though I did take my layoff so chances are a couple have turned up in the last couple years.

That was the first I have seen of this stamp. For some reason it seems more attractive than the Helmar stamp.

If anyone is interested in seeing more Pritchard's, I came across a stash of scans on one of the card pricing sites. All NY Giants examples except one which is, oddly, Yale baseball. Cool to see some of these:

Now it's just a matter of finding another out in the real world.
