e254 Waddell

Just read the Old Cardboard newsletter where they show the e254 Waddell that was found. Good thing I don't collect Minneapolis cards anymore.

Waddell, Minneapolis is among the tougher cards in the set (there are 3 Waddell versions St. Louis, Newark, and Minneapolis--the first being moderately tough and the latter two being roughly equally tough), but by no means is it among the toughest 10-20 cards from that set. There are cards in that set that make T206 rarities look like nothing! Example, I have personally only ever seen one copy each of the following players (and I own both of them)...Rudy Hulswitt (Chattanooga) and Claude Ritchey (Louisville). I know there are more than one known as they were checklisted before I found mine, but I suspect they were both cataloged by Larry Fritsch (or the 2-3 other people that are/were close to an E254 master set).

yeah, e254 is a set that few people realize just how tough it is to complete. From what I understand, most minor leaguers, especially the Southern teams are pretty tough. I know I rarely them back in the 80s when I pursued them a bit. When I got back in the hobby I thought about chasing that set but decided against it just because of how hard it is to put together.

I also considered the t207 set. Yes, I am a glutton for punishment

For some reason I did not receive the January OC newsletter, so I don't know exactly what Waddell card they "found', but I've seen that card 2-3 times over the past few years. I lost out on this one in December--somewhat rough shape with a small tear and slight back damage but certainly presentable:
